Questions
FAQ
Quick answers about fit, money, telehealth, scheduling, and getting started.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. A free consultation is the best first step. It gives you a chance to ask questions, talk about what you are looking for, and decide whether the fit feels right before scheduling therapy.
Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-rate sessions?
Sometimes. There are a limited number of reduced-rate sessions available at times. Contact Emily directly to ask whether any reduced-rate spots are currently open.
Can I use insurance?
New Game Plus Therapy is not currently paneled with insurance companies. Superbills can be provided if your plan offers out-of-network benefits, but you pay the full fee at the time of session and seek reimbursement through your plan.
Where do sessions happen?
In-person sessions are available in Tacoma, WA. Telehealth sessions are available for clients located anywhere in Washington State.
What telehealth platform do you use?
You will receive a secure telehealth link before online sessions. If you have access, privacy, or technology concerns, bring them up during the consultation so the setup can be talked through before your first appointment.
Do I need to be a gamer or geek to work with you?
No. Geek therapy is available if that language fits you, but therapy can also focus on relationships, identity, anxiety, burnout, grief, values, communication, and everyday life without using fandom or gaming references.
Do you work with couples?
Yes. Couples therapy is available for partners who want support around communication, conflict, repair, trust, neurodivergent dynamics, intimacy, or life transitions.
Who is this not a fit for?
This practice is not a fit for immediate crisis support, emergency care, medication management, court-mandated evaluations, custody evaluations, or therapy for people located outside Washington State. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, call or text 988 in the United States.
What is the cancellation policy?
A 48-hour cancellation notice is required. If a session is cancelled or missed within 48 hours of the scheduled time, the full session rate is billed.
How often are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes and may be scheduled weekly or every two weeks depending on fit, goals, and availability.
