Getting Started

How It Works

A clear path from the first free consultation to the kind of ongoing therapy rhythm that fits your life.

The Process

What to expect before and after the first session.

Starting therapy can feel like opening a menu with too many choices. Here is the usual flow.

1

Free consultation

We spend a short call checking fit, answering questions, and making sure the service, location, and timing can work.

2

Intake paperwork

You complete forms before the first session so we can talk about goals, consent, privacy, policies, and what brings you in.

3

First session

We begin with your story, what you want help with, and what would make therapy feel useful rather than performative.

4

Ongoing rhythm

Sessions are 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or every two weeks, depending on clinical fit and availability.

5

Between sessions

Some weeks may include reflection, communication experiments, boundary practice, or noticing patterns as they happen.

6

Adjust as you go

Therapy should respond to your life. We can revisit goals, pace, session frequency, and what feels useful over time.

In-person sessions

In-person appointments happen in the Tacoma office. The office page includes photos so you can see the room before you arrive.

Telehealth sessions

Before You Begin

Questions are welcome.

You can use the consultation to ask about approach, scheduling, rates, telehealth, reduced-rate availability, or whether geek therapy or couples therapy is the right frame for your goals.

You do not have to arrive with the perfect quest log. Therapy can begin with "I know something needs to change, but I do not know where to start."
