Geek Therapy

Therapy that lets your games, characters, fandoms, and stories become part of the map instead of something you have to leave at the door.

What It Is

Not just therapy with a geek.

Geek therapy can be closely related to art therapy or play therapy, except the lens for our work together is rooted in geek, nerd, and pop culture.

It offers a chance to explore and connect through your hobbies and interests while moving toward reflections on your personal experiences, relationships, identity, and challenges.

What does it mean if Greedo or Han shot first? What makes that important to you? If Han shot first, can he still be the good guy?

Humorous therapy meme about finding the root of anxiety through classic games.

In Session

Your references can become therapeutic language.

If the metaphor fits, we can use it. If it does not, we can build a better one together.

Games & Roles

Healer or tank anxiety, support roles, party dynamics, avoidance quests, one more run at 4 a.m., and the stories underneath those patterns.

Fandom & Identity

Characters, ships, OCs, cosplay, collecting, conventions, and the joy or shame that can come with being deeply invested.

Stories & Choices

Endings, alignments, builds, moral decisions, and the way fictional worlds help us practice what we value in this one.

Common Themes

Geek therapy can support work around...

  • Anxiety, burnout, depression, and feeling stuck.
  • Neurodivergence, masking, shame, and sensory needs.
  • Identity, relationships, grief, values, and belonging.
  • Conflict around hobbies, collections, games, money, or time.
Geek therapy lets us use our space together in a way that is authentic to you, to me, and to the work we do together.
